21st Zoigl-Wort ShareWEST COAST IPA WORT Friday, March 8, 2024 | 4pm-7pm
The Zoiglhaus Wort Share is back on track for 2024. After the Northern German-Style Pilsner from last summer, it is time to get into it with a West Coast IPA wort..
We ferment ours with the Flagship strain, but you should feel free to experiment with your yeast selections. Go traditional and ferment with Flagship, or go another direction with various American, Belgian, English, or German ale or even lager strains, throwing in extra dry hops, candi sugars, fruits, or whatever else comes to your wickedly creative mind. This would make a great Cold IPA or Hoppy Pilsner with the addition of your choices of aroma hops.
As usual, bring your carboy and airlock to the brewery and we’ll set you up with a 5 gallon batch of wort and your choice of yeast to pitch.
Here is the wort profile to get your creative juices flowing:
Water Source: Ca++ 64 ppm Mg++ 1 ppm Na+ 34 ppm SO4– 95 ppm Cl- 66 ppm HCO3- 50 ppm
Malts:
Great Western Pilsner Malt: 58%
Great Western 2-Row Malt: 26% Cane Sugar: 12% Great Western Dextrapils: 4%Mash Profile:
45 minutes at a mixed alpha/beta restHops:
Columbus for bittering (first wort boiling) and aroma additions
Simcoe for aroma addition (We use Citra, Simcoe Cryo, Mosaic and Amarillo in our Dry Hopping. Feel free to pick whatever works for you!)Starting Gravity: 15.3 Plato (1.061 SG)

Global, Whiteout and Que Bueno might not be available for the 8th, so please choose a different yeast and make a note in the comments if you would like Global, Whiteout or Que Bueno. If they are available, we will order them for you.
